NOIDA: A fire broke out at a cardboard factory in Noida’s Sector 63 on Friday morning, officials said. Around 30 people were working at the factory at the time of the incident but no one was injured in the incident though goods worth lakhs of rupees were damaged.
According to the chief fire officer (CFO) Arun Kumar Singh, the fire broke out at around 7am and over 20 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames. “Employees, including the security guards, tried to extinguish the fire. But after sensing that the fire was becoming uncontrollable, they informed police and the fire brigade department. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot at the earliest as the flames spread but luckily most of the employees managed to escape. Only one employee of the company was trapped on the second floor of the building,” Singh said.
“The fire personnel along with the local police rescued the trapped employee safely”, Singh said, adding that it was possibly a short-circuit that led to the massive fire.
“The owner informed us that a new machine was installed at the factory on the same day and it seems it had malfunctioned. The large quantity of cardboards kept inside the company premises was highly inflammable because of which the fire became massive. Our personnel had to give a lot of effort to douse the fire as around 35-40 people work in the company,” Singh added.
