GREATER NOIDA: Two men have been arrested for allegedly killing their 35-year-old neighbour a few hours after quarrelling with him in Noorpur village of Greater Noida, said police. They recovered a pistol and a country-made gun from the arrested men’s possession as well.

The men have been identified by their first names as Taimur (27) and Arbaaz (19) — both residents of Noorpur village under the jurisdiction of Jarcha police station, while the deceased man has been identified as Arif, a resident of the same village.

“On Monday around 4pm, Arif’s motorcycle accidentally hit Arbaaz who was walking on the road. The two had a heated argument, following which Arif slapped him. Arbaaz went home and spoke to his brother Taimur. The two went looking for Arif, who lived in the same locality,” said Vishal Pandey, additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP, Greater Noida), said.

The duo found Arif near a neighbour’s house around 8pm and another scuffle broke out between them. Soon, Taimur and Arbaaz took out guns and fired at Arif, police said, adding that the two immediately fled the spot.

“Arif was rushed to the hospital by locals where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. During the incident, a minor was also injured as bullet fragments pierced his ear. He is being treated and is out of danger. Three teams were formed to nab the men and a forensic team also visited the spot,” the ADCP said.

Police on Tuesday received information about the movement of the two brothers near Chholas village after which they were nabbed. Shripal Singh, in-charge of Jarcha police station, said “The duo were produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.”
