Noida reports 133 Covid-19 cases; 5% samples positive

NOIDA: Gautam Budh Nagar district on Saturday reported 133 fresh Covid-19 cases and 107 recoveries. The active caseload stands at 727, according to official data received from the district health department.

The district has been reporting over 100 cases for a week now and has so far reported 1,850 Covid-19 cases in the month of April. The district has reported 100,435 Covid-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic in March, 2020.

The health department officials, meanwhile, said that the rise in Covid-19 cases in the district has been slow so far.

“The severity of the fresh Covid-19 cases in the district is less and we are also recording recoveries along with the fresh cases. The district health department is on a high alert,” said Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma, chief medical officer (CMO), Gautam Budh Nagar.

On Friday, the district reported 141 fresh Covid-19 cases — the highest since February 10, when 168 cases were recorded in a single day. On April 19, the district crossed the 100-mark of fresh daily Covid-19 cases for the first time in three months. According to

official data, the district reported 31,137 cases in January, 3,054 cases in February and 458 cases in March.

According to the district surveillan­ce office, over 3,000 Covid-19 tests are being conducted on an average. “Regular testing is being done and around 3,000 tests are being conducted on a daily basis. At present, the Covid-19 positivity rate is around 5%, including both RT-PCR and rapid antigen tests. The hospitalis­ation rate is 5%,” said Dr Manoj Kushwaha, district surveillan­ce officer.

The fresh Covid cases are less severe, but the district health dept is on high alert.
