E-COMMERCE DELIVERY AGENT AMONG FOUR HELD FOR FRAUD

-

NOIDA: Gautam Budh Nagar Police on Saturday arrested four people, including a delivery executive of an e-commerce firm, for allegedly stealing money from hundreds of people by cloning their ATM cards.

The racket was busted by officials of the Sector 58 police station. The mastermind of the operation has been identified but is absconding at present.

The arrested men have been identified as Jai Prakash Verma, Armaan, Tito Das, and Neeraj Kumar. “Jai Prakash Verma was the first one to get arrested. We checked his bank details and found transactions worth ₹34.50 lakh in the last two years. When we investigated further, we got to know about three others associated with Verma, and the mastermind behind the racket,” said Ranvijay Singh, additional deputy commissioner of police.

Singh said 42 ATM cards, 41 Aadhaar cards and 13 mobile phones were recovered from the arrested men.

The racket operated in three different ways. “The first method did not involve cloning of cards. They waited at ATM kiosks for some gullible person to come in for a withdrawal. When the ATM didn’t work, they would step in to help, note the pin being used, and exchange the victim’s ATM card with a fake one,” Singh .
