1 DEAD, ANOTHER MISSING AS RAIN LASHES B’LURU
BENGALURU: A 60-year-old woman died after an apartment compound wall fell on her shedhouse after heavy rain in Bengaluru on Saturday, police said.
According to the police, the woman, identified as Muniyamma (60), was in her shedhouse at Kaveri Nagar under the Mahadevapura police station limits when the compound wall of an adjacent apartment came crashing, killing her instantly. She worked at a factory in the area with her son and daughterin-law, a senior officer said.
“Her son and daughter-in-law are injured in the incident,” said the officer.
Meanwhile, search operations were underway to locate a 24-year-old man, who in the wee hours of Saturday, was washed away in a stormwater drain after heavy rain lashed parts of the city.
“We received information about the incident around 1.30 am... As there was flooding, Mithun, a civil engineer from Shivamogga, went to remove his motorcycle parked near the stormwater drain. He fell into the drain and was washed away,” said Ravi Prakash, chief fire officer, Karnataka fire and emergency services.
