NEW DELHI/JAIPUR: Two debtridden factory workers from Bhiwadi in Alwar district of Rajasthan allegedly kidnapped three minor sons of their neighbour on Saturday, lured them to Delhi on the pretext of giving them a ride in Delhi Metro trains, and strangled them separately in a wooded area near Andheria Mor in south Delhi’s Mehrauli, officers from Rajasthan and Delhi police said on Tuesday after bodies of two children were found in the area.

However, the third victim -- the youngest of them aged 7 years -survived and walked out of the forested area on Sunday morning. He was spotted wandering on a pavement by a policeman, the officers said. He was taken to a child care home in Lajpat Nagar, they added.

The Bhiwadi police through technical surveillance identified

and on Monday arrested the two suspects, identified as Manjha Singh Kushwah,28 and Mahabir Teli,30, living at Mukut Colony, Santhalka in Bhiwadi. The three victims lived with their parents and three other siblings in the same neighbourhood, the Bhiwadi police said.

“Prime facie, it appears to be a case of kidnapping and murder for ransom. However, we are also probing other possible angles, including personal enmity,” said deputy superintendent of police (Bhiwadi) Jasveer Meena.

Meena said the children were kidnapped on Saturday morning, when their parents, who sell vegetables on a cart, were out for work. The victims’ family filed a missing persons’ complaint with the police the same day.

A case of kidnapping was registered on the complaint given by the father of the kids, Gyan Singh, and investigation was taken up. On Sunday, Radha Krishan, uncle of the missing kids, received a call from a person who claimed to have kidnapped the children and demanded ₹8 lakh as ransom, said Meena. “Through technical surveillance, we identified the suspects as Manjha Singh Kushwah and Mahabir Singh. Both are drug addicts,” said the Deputy SP.

Deputy commissioner of police (south) Chandan Chowdhary said a Bhiwadi crime branch team came to Mehrauli area in south Delhi and carried out a search on Tuesday morning. The two suspects led them to the spot where bodies of two children were recovered, she said.
