COURT: PLEA TO BAR MUSLIMS FROM GYANVAPI SITE TO BE HEARD
VARANASI: A plea to bar Muslims from entering the Gyanvapi Masjid complex is maintainable, a Varanasi court said on Thursday, overruling objections by the management of the mosque and saying it will hear the case.
The plea also demanded that the site, where a Shivling is claimed to have been found, be handed over to Hindus and devotees be allowed worshipping rites. The mosque committee objected to the plea saying that it violates the Places of Worship Act. The court rejected the argument and posted December 2 as the next date of hearing.
