12 killed as truck rams into procession

At least 12 people were killed on Sunday night when a speeding truck rammed into a religious procession in Vaishali district in Bihar, police officers said late on Sunday night. The incident took place at around 9pm. Vaishali Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar said, “At least four of the deceased are children. The truck driver, whom we are trying to pull out of the mangled vehicle, may also have died”. Expressing grief over the accident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon.”
