IFFI day 3: Showcases, masterclasses kick off
PANAJI: The third day of the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa saw several films showcased and “masterclasses” with global talents in filmmaking.
At the showing of The Storyteller, actor Adil Hussain touched on the importance of literature and writing in Indian cinema.
“Generally, most of the films that we see are made in our part of the world are poor in literature and that needs to be worked upon in Indian film writing... We study dramatic literature... but we don’t see great writing of that stature in Indian films. There are of course [some], but we need to see more,” Hussain said at the press conference of the show
case.
The Storyteller is based on short story Golpo Boliye Tarini Khuro, written by Satyajit Ray. It stars Hussain along with Paresh Rawal, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Revathi.
Later in the day, American filmmaker and animator Mark Osborne held a masterclass session on “Animation as a Tool for Expression”. Osborne’s work includes global blockbusters
Kung Fu Panda and
Prince.
