A massive fire broke out at a plastic factory in the Kasna area under Ecotech police station limits in Greater Noida in the early hours of Saturday, police said.

Initial investigations have revealed that the fire was a result of a short circuit. While there was no casualty, it took 15 fire tenders around 10 hours to douse the flames, fire and rescue personnel said.

Pradeep Kumar, the chief fire officer (Gautam Budh Nagar), said that the fire department got information about the blaze around 12.30am.

“The fire broke out at a twostoreyed polycarbonate by-product factory in Kasna. Initially, five fire tenders were pressed into action and later 10 more tenders were sent to the spot as the fire spread quickly. The plastic materials inside the factory were highly combustible and the fire spread in no time,” Kumar said.

It took the firefighters more than 10 hours to douse the flames completely and the cooling down process was underway till Saturday afternoon, fire officials added. “Around 40 people were inside the factory but everyone managed to escape,” Kumar added.
