The apartment owners of RG Residency housing society in Sector 120 have once again demanded transparency in the apartment owners’ association (AOA) polls after a revision of voters’ list, sources said on Sunday. They alleged that names of at least 600 voters have been deleted knowingly in a bid to influence the polls and added that the election officer is not paying heed to their demands despite repeated letters to senior officials.

There are 1,540 apartments in RG Residency society and in the AOA elections held in 2019, there were 1,124 residents who cast their votes.

As per the new voters’ list, there are 811 voters who can cast their votes in the AOA polls scheduled on December 11.

Around 950 apartment owners have executed the registry of their flats so far and the remaining could not execute their registry because the realtor has not yet obtained ‘no objection certificate’ (NOC).

Residents alleged that the society’s lifts do not function properly, water dues are not paid and other facilities are not up to the mark. “We have already written to the AOA election officer and the Noida authority, demanding that the voters’ list should be revised on an immediate basis and the names of voters, who were present in the old roll, should be added. We have also demanded that the elections should take place only after a revision in the electoral roll. We demand the cancellation of elections if the names of all apartment owners are not added in the electoral roll,” said Anirban Chakraborty, secretary, RG Residency AOA.

Apartment owners added that the upcoming polls should be executed through democratic methods without anyone influencing the polls.

“I am an apartment owner and have also executed my flat registry with the Noida authority and the realtor. But my name is missing from the electoral roll. There are at least 400 apartment owners whose names are not there in the electoral roll. We demand that AOA elections should be taken place democratically,” said Rajesh Arora, who owns an apartment at RG Residency.

Rajendra Bhati, the deputy general manager of the Yamuna Expressway industrial development authority (Yeida), who has been officially appointed as an election officer said, “We have been conducting elections as per the model guidelines mentioned in the Uttar Pradesh Apartment Act, 2010. In the 2021 AOA polls, the voters’ list was faulty and names of apartment owners, whose registrations were pending, were deleted”.

“If an apartment owner has completed his or her registration, we will surely add his/her name in the voters’ list for the AOA polls,” Bhati added.
