GYANVAPI CASE: HC RESERVES VERDICT ON PLEA AGAINST SURVEY BY ASI

The Allahabad high court on Monday reserved its judgment on a petition challenging a Varanasi court order directing the Archaeological Survey of India to conduct a survey of the Gyanvapi mosque.

Justice Prakash Padia reserved his order on the petition filed by Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board and the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee (AIMC) that manages the Gyanvapi mosque.

On April 8, 2021, the Varanasi court had directed the ASI to conduct a comprehensive survey of the mosque complex.

There are seven cases related to the Gyanvapi mosque and its premises that are pending in various courts.
