The Mumbai Police on Thursday arrested two men for allegedly misbehaving with a Korean social media influencer while she was streaming live from Khar on Tuesday night.

The duo was caught on camera talking inappropriately to her and trying to touch her even as she resisted their advances.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 11.50pm on Tuesday in the Sadguru Hotel Lane at Khar.

The woman was streaming a video live when the two approached her.

The accused were identified by police as Mobin Sheikh (19) and Naqeeb Ansari (21), both residents of Patel Nagar.

The video, which was shared with the Mumbai Police on Wednesday evening, showed the two men making objectionable comments and pulling the victim’s hand. One of the two even leaned in to kiss her on the cheek, while she recoiled.

Deputy commissioner of police Anil Paraskar said: “When we contacted the woman, she said she was too disturbed to lodge a formal complaint immediately. Hence, we registered an FIR against the duo on our own, based on a complaint lodged by one of our female officers with Khar station’s Nirbhaya Squad.”

Police circulated the video among local informants and identified the duo, officers said.

They were both arrested and charged under section 354 (assault or criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC, the DCP added.

Later, the accused were remanded in police custody for a day by a local court.
