NIA BEGINS PROBE INTO MANGALURU AUTO BLAST CASE
The Mangaluru Police on Thursday began questioning the main accused in the November 19 Mangaluru blast case, Mohammad Shariq, on the same day the NIA took over the investigation.
Shariq had suffered 40% burn injuries when an IED that he was carrying detonated inside an auto rickshaw on November 19, police said. The case is being investigated under provisions of The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment (UAPA) Act, 2008.
Mangaluru (City) Police Commissioner N Shashikumar said Shariq was questioned after doctors declared him fit.
“Since the direction has come from the DGP to hand over the case to NIA, the process was completed Thursday. The investigation will be continued as per the directions of the NIA.”
