STUDENT BEATEN UP FOR HOLDING KARNATAKA FLAG

-

A student of a private college in Karnataka’s Belagavi district on Thursday alleged that he was thrashed by his classmates for displaying a Karnataka flag at a college event on Wednesday evening.

The student even accused DCP Ravindra Gadadi for “kicking and slapping him about 20 times” when he approached police at Tilakwadi police station with a complaint. He said his parents were summoned and he was threatened with a case if he repeated his actions.

The DCP denied the charges. “Neither me nor did any other policemen touched the boy,” he said.

Pro-kannada organisations staged protests against the purported incident and also set ablaze a tyre near the college. The protesters also demanded quick action against the police officials.
