WOMAN’S BODY FOUND IN ODISHA FOREST; ONE HELD

BHUBANESWA­R/RAIPUR: Police in Odisha’s Bolangir district have detained a 40-year-old for allegedly killing a 26-year-old woman he was reportedly in a relationsh­ip with and trying to burn the body in a forest last week.

Bolangir’s deputy SP, Laxminaray­an Marandi, on Thursday identified the accused as Sachin Agarwal, a resident of Kantabanjh­i area and said he is suspected to have shot and killed Tanu Kurre, who used to work in a bank in Raipur, Chhattisga­rh.

“We found the half-burnt body of a woman in the cashew forests of Tureikela on November 24 based on reports by local residents .... we got to know about a missing person’s case lodged in Mowa police station (Raipur)... we detained Sachin Agrawal as he was last seen with her on November 19,” he said.

According to a police officer privy to the case, Agarwal confessed to killing Kurre on November 21 as he thought she was seeing somebody else.
