DARBHANGA: There will be no alliance with Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) in future, leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said on Sunday, when the two-day executive committee meeting of the state BJP concluded.

Terming Kumar a “liability”, senior BJP leaders asked party workers in Bihar to fully dedicate themselves to strengthening the organisation before the 2025 assembly elections.

Talking to reporters in Darbhanga, BJP national general secretary and Bihar in-charge Vinod Tawde said: “BJP national president JP Nadda and Union home minister Amit Shah have categorically maintained that the party will not forge an alliance with the JD(U) and its leader Nitish Kumar under any circumstances.”

He also accused the Nitish Kumar government of “stalling” Bihar’s development progress “even as the Union government has been continuously providing funds”. “Efforts are being made to divert attention from the issues of development. Sacred religious scriptures are being attacked after the Grand Alliance government assumed power in the state.”

Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, home minister Amit Shah and all senior leaders have made it very clear that there will be no coalition with Nitish Kumar or the JDU in the future.”

Taking a jibe at the CM, he said, “The person not just betrayed the BJP, he also betrayed the mandate of the people and PM Modi.” Sushil, who is a Rajya Sabha member, said CM Kumar’s vote-attracting capability has ended. “Coalition happens with those who have power, but Nitish Kumar has become a liability now. His ability to transfer votes has ended,” said Modi.
