Sanjiv Puri is new CII president
Sanjiv Puri, chairman and managing director of ITC Ltd, is the new president of the Confederation of Indian Industry, the business association said. He takes over from R Dinesh, chairman of TVS Supply Chain Solutions, after the lobby group’s national council on Saturday elected office bearers for 2024-25.
EY India chairman Rajiv Memani has been elected as president for the year, and Tata Chemicals Ltd managing director & CEO R Mukundan is the new vice-president, CII said in a statement.
Besides leading cigarette maker ITC that also has interests in FMCG, hotels, packaging and agri business, Puri is also chairman of ITC Infotech India Ltd, its subsidiaries in the UK and the US, and Surya Nepal Private Ltd. He was conferred with the Distinguished Alumnus Award of 2018 by the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
Memani is a member of EY’S global management body as chair of its global emerging markets committee. He is an advisor to large Indian companies, private equity funds and multinational organizations, principally advising them on building confidence, mergers and acquisitions, technology and smart capital allocation strategies.
Mukundan is an alumnus of IIT Roorkee, fellow of the Indian Chemical Society and an alumnus of the Harvard Business School. During his 33 years career with the Tata Group, he has held responsibilities across the chemical, automotive and hospitality sectors.
CII is a non-government, notfor-profit, industry led organisation, with around 9,000 members from the private as well as public sectors, including small and medium enterprises and multinational corporations. It has 65 offices, including 10 centres of excellence, in India, and eight overseas offices, as well as institutional partnerships with 350 counterpart associations in 133 countries, it said.
