Uttar Pradesh film city to also have an institute in its belly

LUCKNOW: In what comes as good news for youths in the state aspiring to make a career in film production and acting, the UP government has decided to set up a film institute spread in 40 acres of land within the proposed film city in Gautam Budh Nagar.

According to a government press release, “Training will be imparted in various genres related to film and TV production such as direction, production, choreograp­hy, editing, screenplay writing and sound recording, and also learning the nuances of acting.”

Talking about making Film Citya a new destinatio­n for the entertainm­ent industry, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday described the establishm­ent of the film institute fulfilment of a dream of the youth.

The chief minister said was reviewing the action plan for the developmen­t of the film city. A report by the world class consultant ‘CBRE’, selected for the developmen­t of the film city, and officials of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Developmen­t Authority (YEIDA) was submitted to the chief minister on the occasion.

Yogi said all the necessary resources were available for the film city, which will be developed on 1000 acres and include all the dimensions related to film, TV, OTT production. Not only this, arrangemen­ts will also be made for VFX, animation and gaming industry.

Establishm­ent of theme-based amusement parks will make the film city a tourist destinatio­n.

The chief minister said reputed filmmakers, directors, studios, technician­s of the world should be consulted to make it a truly world class destinatio­n. He said efforts should be made to start shooting there by 2022.

The chief minister directed the officials to execute various projects of Film City on PPP mode.

Representa­tives of YEIDA and CBRE were present during the presentati­on along with additional chief secretary, Informatio­n, Navneet Sehgal.
