AGRA: The district administration and police are working to ensure foolproof security in and around the Sri Krishna Janambhoomi and adjoining Shahi Eidgah in Mathura city area despite various Hindu organisations calling off their proposed protests in the region on December 6.

Additional police force has been called from nearby districts to ensure enough security. The city area has been divided in different zones for better management, officials said.

Organisations, including the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) had earlier given a call for ‘jalabhishek’ on December 6 at the birth place of Lord Krishna, that they claim is inside the Shahi Eidgah which shares its boundary with adjoining Sri Krishna Janambhoomi.

ABHM president Rajyashri Chaudhari later withdrew the call and many others followed suit. “ABHM, Sri Krishna Janambhoomi Mukti Dal, Narayani

Sena and Dev Murari Bapu have called off their proposed protests and marches on December 6 but we aren’t taking any chances. We have appealed to people outside Mathura to avoid visiting the city on December 6. No permission has been granted to any individual or organisations for protests. Prohibitory orders have been enforced and strict action would be taken against the violators,” said SSP Mathura

Dr Gaurav Grover.

“The city police will be assisted by PAC. The CRPF is deployed at Sri Krishna Janambhoomi and adjoining Shahi Eidgah. The city has been divided in eight sectors, 4 zones and 2 super zones for efficient monitoring. Police and its cyber cell are keeping an eye on social media and those spreading rumours are being warned to respect the sensitivity of issue,” the SSP said.

Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya had tweeted on Wednesday that like Ayodhya and Kashi, preparations were underway for a grand temple in Mathura.

Thakur Raghuraj Singh, a BJP leader in Aligarh supported Maurya. “The deputy CM is justified in his demand on ‘janambhoomi’ of Lord Krishna,” Singh said.
