LUCKNOW: Infrastructure and industrial development commissioner (IIDC) Arvind Kumar and VueNow Infotech Pvt Ltd managing director Sukhvinder Singh Kharaur on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) of Rs 13,500 crore in the presence of chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra.

The VueNow Infotech Pvt Ltd will, under the MoU, develop infrastructure for 750 edge data centres to be set up in all the districts in Uttar Pradesh. Edge data centres are smaller decentralised centres that provide computing and storage facilities in a location closer to where data is generated and used.

The company has already set up a pilot edge data centre at Morta in Ghaziabad district.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief secretary said Uttar Pradesh was fast emerging as a preferred destination for global data centre operators.

He said the inking of the MoU would lead to the creation of the world’s largest data centre network in the state.

He further said setting up of data centres would enable fast rollout of 5G network and enhance computing capacity for the use of blockchain, artificial intelligence and other big data technologies.
