How colonisation strengthened division

This refers to Pavan K Varma’s The colonial legacy of subordinate culture (November 20). As the author says, caste hierarchy has been around in India for a long time. Colonisation has strengthened the “subordinate culture” but is not wholly to blame, in my opinion.
