U.P. Police’s witty reply to Musk’s tweet a big hit
LUCKNOW: The U.P. Police’s recent response to owner and CEO of Twitter Elon Musk’s tweet “Wait, if I Tweet, does that count as work?” posted on November 21 is receiving likes and retweets by the minute and is just shy of 14,000 likes and over 7 lakh impressions as of now.
The U.P. Police are known for not only being extremely active on Twitter but also for having relatable and eye-catching content. Be it posts about their campaigns or replies to others’ tweets, their twitter handle always gets attention from users in the state.
Musk had tweeted a post that read “Wait, if I Tweet does that count as work?” referring to his recent acquisition of the social media platform. In their response to it, the UP Police tweeted “Wait, if @uppolice solves your problem over a Tweet, does that count as work?” They even went on reposting the tweet and replied with the caption, “Yes, it does!”
According to Rahul Srivastava, additional SP, social media cell, U.P. Police, it is critical for the police to stay relevant on social media and establish a connect with the people and this was the intention behind the U.P. Police’s response to the tech billionaire’s tweet.
“It is important to have a transparent channel of communication with the citizens of the state. So, social media gives them a leverage so that they can overcome the boundaries of time and space and they can put forth their grievances if it is physically not possible for them to reach the right officials,” he added. Srivastava further said it imposed “unprecedented levels of accountability and transparency on a police organisation.”
Additional director general, law and order, U.P. Police, Prashant Kumar released a statement to ANI on the tweet exchange wherein Kumar spoke of how the UP Police social media was managed, saying that they had around 500 staff members constantly monitoring social media and responding to complaints made by the public.
