IMRAN TO BE A DAD
Khan and wife Avantika Malik are expecting their first baby in June 2014
Imran Khan will soon become a father. His wife, Avantika Malik, is 12 weeks pregnant and is expected to deliver the baby in June next year. Naturally excited, the actor says, “Avantika was sick a few months ago. She suspected dengue and I thought they were signs of pregnancy. We went for a check-up and she tested positive for both. But, since she was pregnant, she couldn’t take medication for dengue. We let some time pass and now she’s fine.”
While Imran was elated by the news, his family was taken by surprise. “Initially, we just told our mothers. Then Aamir (Khan; uncleactor) and Kiran (Rao; filmmaker) got to know and they were extremely ecstatic too. Now, we’ve told our immediate group of friends,” he says.
Kiran, who is mother to a two-year-old son, Azad, has even asked the couple not to shop too much for the baby. “She’s going to pass on all of Azad’s stuff to us. A very fancy pram is already on its way,” says Imran. On a fun note, he adds that while he is hoping to have a girl, Avantika wants a boy.
Meanwhile, the couple plan to go on a long overdue vacation soon. Imran says, “The second trimester is pretty easy as there’s no morning sickness or anything of that sort. Avantika should be able to travel.” And is he going to take a break from his work now that there’s a baby on the way. “I’m only working on Bhavesh Joshi right now, which I hope to wrap up around the same time as the delivery,” he says.
