With the election season over and the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) nearing its end, Bollywood finally has reason to cheer. Films that have been waiting in the wings are ready to hog the limelight now, and fans have some starry spectacles to look forward to.

The titles that will make their way to theatres soon include the Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha starrer Holiday — A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (June 6), Kabir Sadanand’s directorial venture Fugly (June 13), the Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukhstarrer Humshakals (June 20), Ek Villain (June 27) featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor, and Vidya Balan’s detective saga, Bobby Jasoos (July 4).

“We wanted the IPL and election frenzy to get over, that’s why we decided on a June date (IPL ends on June 1),” says Kabir. Film-maker Vipul Shah, who is producing Holiday, has the same reason. “We knew that the election results will be out by May 16 and that the new cabinet will be declared by May 25. We are hoping for the best now,” he says.

Industry experts feel that with their way clear and post t a recent entertainment lull, these films stand a good chance at success. Trade expert Atul Mohan says, “Industry ke liye bhi achhe din aane waale hain (laughs). I see brighter days for the box office. It is also vacation time and the lineup looks impressive, with something unusual coming up almost every week. The real action will begin now. Holiday, Humshakals and Ek Villain, among others, are some of the names you can bet on.”
