In the last six months, a number of celebrity relationships have hit troubled waters
Relationships in Bollywood are quite fickle — rumours of actors supposedly dating, having affairs or breaking up keep the gossip mills in action all year round. However, in the last six months, half-a-dozen celebrity couples have hit a rough patch as far as their personal lives are concerned. While a couple of them were targets of rumour mills, others are heading towards separation and even divorce. We take a close look at them.
Not so well
KARISMA KAPOOR-SUNJAY KAPOOR:
Apparently, Karisma Kapoor’s husband, Sunjay Kapur, has filed a petition for the custody of their children, Samaira and Kiaan. Speculations also suggested that the actor is contemplating divorce. The couple got married in 2003 but has been living separately for a while.
CHITRANGADA SINGH-JYOTI RANDHAWA:
After a steady run since 2001, Chitrangada and her golfer husband Jyoti Randhawa hit the headlines when reports that their marriage was on the rocks appeared in the media. The actor always denied such talks, but last month, reports confirmed that the couple, who had filed for a divorce by mutual consent, was granted the same in April.
LEANDER PAES-RHEA PILLAI:
Tennis star, Leander Paes and his partner, Rhea Pillai have been together since 2005, and have a seven-year-old daughter, Aiyana. But now, things have gone awry as he has filed a petition in the Family Court in Bandra, seeking custody of his daughter. Rhea has accused Leander of cheating on her.
ANURAG KASHYAP-KALKI KOECHLIN:
They met and fell in love while working together on Dev.D (2009), and got married in 2011. But in November last year, Anurag Kashyap and Kalki Koechlin surprised everyone by issuing a statement that, they “are taking time off from each other to figure things out. We are not divorcing.” Ever since, the duo hasn’t spoken about their relationship status in public.
HRITHIK ROSHAN-SUSSANNE ROSHAN:
In December last year, Hrithik Roshan’s statement about ending his marriage of 13 years, from wife Sussanne, sent shockwaves through the industry. It said, “Sussanne has decided to separate from me and end our 17-year relationship…” This came after four months of speculation about the split. A few days ago, the two approached the Family Court in Bandra and filed for a separation by mutual consent.
