Looking like a goddess draped in gold, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan finally made an appearance at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. Wearing a sculpted, metallic dress by Roberto Cavalli, her look got a big thumbs up from fans and critics alike — and made for a resounding red carpet redemption — after all the flak the 40-year-old actor received for her weight gain, post the birth of her daughter Aaradhya in 2011.
When we asked veteran designer Manish Malhotra about Aishwarya’s look, he told us, “I think she is looking simply beautiful; redefining motherhood and looking sensuous and really glamorous. The cut of the outfit compliments and highlights her recent weight loss perfectly.”
Designer Masaba Gupta added that the Indian brigade has done everyone proud. She says, “Even Sonam’s (Kapoor) look was amazing, especially in the sari and now Aishwarya — she looks really outstanding, like a whole new person.” Designer couple Falguni and Shane Peacock say, “The two tones of gold amalgamate perfectly in this outfit. Gold is also the colour for the season internationally, and the silhouette is accentuating her curves beautifully. The red lips and the hair also add sex appeal and class to Ash’s look.”
In addition to the designers, Aishwarya’s husband Abhishek Bachchan also praised her look. “Almost 52hrs without sleep! Eyes shutting… and the Mrs. Shows up looking like this!! Ok.. Eyes wide open now! (sic),” he tweeted.
