For the meaning of the word ‘consistency’, most tend to refer to a dictionary. But Sony’s flagship range comes close enough to explaining the term. The Xperia Z3 — unveiled within months of the launch of its predecessor — costs a bomb, but comes with multiple positives to justify the price. With a superb, slim build, PS4 remote-play compatibility, and a camera that comes loaded with add-on features, the device delivers a premium experience at an equally premium price.
PROS: Available in four sober colours — white, black, copper gold and silver green — the phone is attractive. Running several apps at the same time seemed effortless for the device, which is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core processor. We had no complaints with the camera quality or with the editing options. In fact, for once, we were spoilt for choice. Ardent gamers and movie buffs can store their entire collections on the phone, thanks to an expandable storage. The full-HD screen made using the device a delightful visual experience. Apart from these features, the phone is also water-resistant and dust-proof. Nonetheless, we expect the phone to be in a league of its own, once its PS4 remote-play compatibility catches on.
CONS: The phone’s glossy surface texture makes it slippery and highly susceptible to fingerprints. Also, the auto-rotation function can be cumbersome at times.
VERDICT: Honestly, the Z3 hardly gave us any reason to complain. However, considering the speed at which Sony is launching newer editions, the Z4 just might be around the corner. However, if you have the money and want a device that delivers top-notch performance, Z3 won’t disappoint you.
