I had set out to become a singer: Kapil Sharma
The comedian-turned-actor, who has sung two tracks for his debut film, says heh won’t necessarily sing in all his films
Kapil Sharma, who is known for singing Sufi songs and ghazals on his comedy show, has lent his voice for two tracks in his debut film, directed by Abbas-Mustan.
“I will shoot for the first song ‘Bolle bam bam’, which is an energetic track. I never imagined that I’d be able to ssing such a song. Now, I’m eager to see the response to it,” says Kapil, who collaborated with music director Dr Zeus for the song.
Bollywood has a growing number of actors who are trying their hand at singing, but he doesn’t count himself among them, since he has been singing for a long time. In fact, he even participated in a singing reality show and got appreciation for it, many years back.
“I had set out to become a singer, so this song has a different meaning for me. The trend of singer-actors is prevalent now. This is a dream come true for me. For years, people will remember that I sang a song,” says Kapil.
Ask him about his second track in the film, and he says that it’s an emotional one. He explains, “I have ‘acted’ the song, as I wanted it to seem like the character was singing it, and not a singer.”
Going ahead, Kapil is clear that he won’t necessarily sing in all his films, unless his directors ask him to. He says, “Even with this film, I told the directors that we should do it only if it works. We recorded it, and it fit beautifully, so we retained it.”
