Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya popularly known as Sachin-Jigar, have come a long way. The duo started their careers as arrangers in the music industry. Today, they are renowned composers and singers. The multi-talented artistes reveal that over the years, fame has made their bond stronger.

Their latest chartbuster, ‘Beat pe booty’, from the recently released film A Flying Jatt has earned them a lot of acclaim. They feel that they have been able to achieve success only because of their conscious decision to balance the “producer’s demands” while preserving their creative style.

“We keep our creative juices flowing by consciously taking up films that are different. Each movie we have worked on Badlapur (2015), ABCD 2 (2015) and A Flying Jatt has been different,” says Sachin. Jigar adds, “People still reject our music. Producers may have a different choice, that doesn’t stop us from believing in our work.”

In fact, the duo believes that rejection and criticism helps them grow. “We embrace those who give us constructive criticism. For instance, Pritam sir (Chakraborty; music director); frankly tells us, ‘Woh gaana accha nahi tha (that song was not good).’ He criticises in the right manner and with the right intentions,” says Jigar. “There are people who tend to criticise with the wrong intentions. We make sure that we are careful while evaluating such criticism.”

Sachin-Jigar also say they want to make a name in the industry, but they are “not competing” with others. They also try to do their best to help others achieve their dreams. “When we talk to aspirants (arrangers and composers) in the studio, the communication is smoother. We are able to understand them because we faced the same questions at one point in time,” says Jigar. “If someone wants to grow, we want to help them. Bollywood is a big place, and there is no competition. Everyone can carve their own place,” adds Sachin.

Sachin and Jigar also talk about how fatherhood has changed them. “We always wanted to make music for kids. I have an eight-year-old, girl Tanishka Saraiya. Jigar’s baby is less than a month old. We recently made a song for a documentary channel. It was about loving animals and our environment. We felt the work was meaningful, as it was something kids could listen to on a loop,” says Sachin.

The two also say they “strive to make music that people do not want to delete from their phones within a few days”. “Songs have a short shelf life. You get bored of them easily,” says Jigar. “We aspire to make music that makes people want to come back to it,” adds Sachin.
