For your elegant abode
The kind of home one wants entirely depends on one’s taste and preferences. Alluring home décor often leaves one energised and motivated, and gives one a feeling of wellness and contentment.
A classical setting or an eclectic ambience certainly has a quality that makes one happy. While the choice of interiors may vary from person to person, for some, contemporary, urban and classical interiors work, for others, an India-inspired home setting or quirky, eclectic and may be smart automated options work better. “Today’s hectic lifestyles lead to very short visual attention spans. So design needs to be timeless irrespective of whether the outlook is modern or classic,” says architect Saket Sethi, a proponent of eclectic designs.
When you have a small space, design should cater to your needs, says design pro Gauri Khan, who advises on how available space for contemporary urban homes can be best utilised. “For example, use the nook between closets as a desk or book storage. Create a loft bed if you have high ceilings, or storage in your staircase,” she says.
The sister duo Gauri & Nainika, who are best known for creating flouncy dresses and classic minimalistic red-carpet gowns, say, “While growing up, we first watched the 1964 classic My Fair Lady. It’s such an inspiration in designing, everything from apparels to home interiors.”
According to Monica Sambharya Parikh and Harshul Parikh, founders of Trescent Lifestyles, automating your home can help maximise the experience of good living.
