Siddharth Nigam (right), who had acted in Aamir Khan starrer Dhoom 3 (2013), became a household name after his hit TV serial Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat. Now, the 16-year-old actor is looking forward to audiences reaction to his role as Maratha warrior Shivaji in an upcoming historical show. “The role is a cameo and it was fun to shoot for it. It is a big deal to play the role of Shivaji, as he was a great king” he says.

Siddharth admits that his show, Ashoka gave him a “huge platform and popularity”. He says, “I am glad that despite playing [such a popular] character, people now know me by my name. In fact, Mohit sir (Raina, actor) who played the grown-up Ashoka, too, complimented my performance. It’s inspiring and motivating to hear such kind words from actors who have proved themselves.”

Though Siddharth is taking up historical roles, going forward he wants to be known for being “versatile”. He says, “I enjoyed dancing in an ongoing dance reality show. I am glad to have got that chance, as initially, I couldn’t dance at all. However, now I feel confident. I would like to give my best, and do varied roles. I want to entertain people and make them smile. I want to be like my idols and be an inspiration for people.”

Though he is just 16, his six-pack abs are often talked about. Siddharth gushes, “If my gymnast teacher hadn’t worked hard on me, I wouldn’t have developed this body. Getting a good physique is tough but maintaining it is tougher.”
