Add a fun twist to your favourite comfort snack this season
Move over salted popcorn. Here are a few ways you can add a fun twist to the snack to make your binging sessions a little more interesting. From desi chaat masala and Mexican churro flavours to BBQ-style popcorn, here are some colourful, quirky and easy popcorn recipes. Take your pick.
CHOCOLATE WITH A COCONUT SPIN
Start by popping the kernels in the microwave. Once they are ready, put them into a bowl. Add dark chocolate and coconut oil in another bowl, and microwave the mixture. Mix the ingredients well.
Pour the mixture on top of the popcorn. Make sure it is coated well.
Sprinkle a pinch of salt and coconut oil on the popcorn and place the bowl in the refrigerator till the coating freezes to solid consistency.
MEXICAN STYLE CHURRO
In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon together. Pop the kernels in a separate bowl over medium heat with some oil and keep aside.
In a small pan, melt butter with vanilla almond candy coating. Then, pour the butter and vanilla mix on the popcorn with a spatula. After that, sprinkle the spiced sugar mix onto the popcorn. Put it into an airtight container for a couple of hours. The Mexican churro popcorn is ready to be served.
NACHO DELIGHT
Start by mixing paprika, cumin and parmesan in a small bowl. Add butter in a pan and melt it over medium heat.
Make the popcorn in this pan so that the melted butter gets coated on them. Then, combine the popcorn with the paprika and cumin mixture. Mix well by tossing the popcorn in a bowl. Your nacho popcorn is ready to be
served.
MARSHMALLOW DELIGHT
Microwave the popcorn in a bowl. In a separate bowl, microwave some butter, brown sugar and marshmallows together. Make sure they are properly melted and mix with a spatula. Then put the popcorn in an airtight container and add the melted butter and marshmallow mixture. Shake till the popcorn is coated properly.
