Awoman of many talents, actress and host, Tara Sharma Saluja talks about family bonding, holidays and her children’s favourite outfits. Excerpts from an interview: We do everything together as a family. We play outdoor games together, read a book or play with lego. Everything that we do together is an opportunity to bond, but we don’t classify them as ‘bonding activities’. Of course, family holidays are important. It’s a bonding time. Our boys bond with each other through imaginary stories and games. Sometimes, it’s not just fun stuff that bring us together; even small arguments help. I am a working mother. I mainly work from home, except for when I am shooting or when I have to go for meetings. So, I have managed to schedule my work around my kids’ routine, so that I can spend a lot of time with them. Frankly neither me, nor the kids do a lot of shopping. But whenever I go, they come along if we are planning to buy toys. Apart from that, they don’t enjoy shopping too much. I think they find it tedious after a point, unless of course it is toys. We have two sons Zen and Kai (inset), who are seven and five respectively. We have a few matching things but now that they are older, they do not like to match outfits with me. Even when I dress them in the same in the same outfits as each other, they don’t prefer it. Roopak, my husband, has a coordinated outfit with them and they have worn it a few times. Everything that we do creates a memory together so there are too many to think of. I like taking photographs and documenting memories. I love looking back at things and of course we love living in the moment and creating memories too. Great holidays, meaningful work, helping those who are less fortunate, laughing together, even fighting, are all meaningful memories. Our kids enjoy wearing comfortable casual clothes. My preferences are whatever they are comfortable in. I sometimes try to make them wear cute formal shirts. As for hairstyles, our kids love haircuts. Their current favourite character is ‘Tin Tin’ thanks to Roopak (inset). They actually ask their barber to give them TinTin haircuts (laughs). My kids have a few denim outfits and they wear them quite often.
