PK wins big in Tokyo

In 2014, Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma-star­rer PK made head­lines for be­com­ing Bol­ly­wood’s first movie to make more than ` 300 crores. And the film, di­rected by Ra­jku­mar Hi­rani (left), is still mak­ing news, more than two years since its re­lease: A Ja­panese film awards event has se­lected PK as one of the most loved movies of Tokyo, Ja­pan.

A source says, “PK didn’t just make a lot of money in In­dia and over­seas, it is also re­garded as one of Hi­rani’s best films till date. Now, it has bagged the first prize at a film awards cer­e­mony in Tokyo. The film was cho­sen by a group of jour­nal­ists from var­i­ous news­pa­pers in Tokyo.” PK was re­leased in Ja­pan last Oc­to­ber.

The source says that the movie movie’s pro­duc­ers count it as a su suc­cess that peo­ple across the woworld have iden­ti­fied with the fi­film. “The pro­duc­ers are hap happy that this award is from­fro an event in w which au­di­ences have par­tic­i­pat­edp di­rectly,” thet source says.

When con­tacted, Hi­raniH — who is busy s shoot­ing a biopic on San­jayS Dutt’s life with R Ran­bir Kapoor — con­firmed­con the news, sayi say­ing, “It came as a pleasa pleas­ant sur­prise. I am really touch touched and hum­bled that so many peo­ple have loved the film aall over the world.”
