FAUZIA ARSHI PAYS TRIBUTE TO URDU POETS
Singer Fauzia Arshi recently performed ghazals from her new album, Ghazals by Great Masters, at the annual threeday festival, Jashn-e-Rekhta, in New Delhi. The album, a blend of expressions by poets such as Meer Taqi Meer, Mirza Ghalib, Bahadur Shah Zafar, Daagh Dehlavi, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, and Shahryar, was released at the event by former union Minister and industrialist Kamal Morarka and his wife, Bharati Morarka, a social worker.
The Rekhta Foundation had invited Fauzia to perform at the event. Speaking about the album, Fauzia said, “The songs in the album have been composed for the love of the language and after a lot of research. It’s a small way to pay tribute to such stalwarts.”
