‘I’d like to get better with maintaining a public profile’
With every role you play, you start discovering your own process.

Not many know but Aditya Roy Kapur never harboured showbiz dreams. However, destiny had other plans. “At one point, I never wanted to become an actor. But when I did a few films, I began enjoying the process and falling in love with my profession. My resolve and passion for acting was already set in stone by then. Ever since, I’ve been very passionate about it. I love everything that has got to do with preparing for a role and being on set. I am still grappling with other things like promotions, maintaining a public profile and finding a way to market yourself. I would like to get a little better. But what keeps me excited is acting,” says the actor.
According to the actor, acting is “a different kind of self-discovery”. He says, “With every role you play, you start discovering your own process, what works for you, and how you need to approach different scenes. And sometimes your characters teach you things. As an actor, you do things which probably you would not do or not agree with. Sometimes the characters you play also teach you how you should be or shouldn’t be. It is an interesting job,” says the Ok Jaanu actor.
Aditya created a social media account this year. Apparently, he was not quite keen about it earlier. “I refrained because I never gave it thought. I got on Facebook, but Twitter never attracted me and it still doesn’t. I feel it is a responsibility that I won’t be able to keep up with. I am a public figure and I don’t want to disappoint people. I don’t want to make promises that I can’t keep. But then, this is a good way to connect with your fans who know that this is the way you can talk to them. I think in today’s day and age it [communicating with your fan] is easy. That’s why I decided to join it. At least I am giving them back something; they are giving me so much,” says the actor.
