Daily soaps improved my acting: Nazim

- Kavita Awaasthi

After playing the lead in a daily soap for sevenand-a-half years, Mohammad Nazim has mixed emotions about the show coming to an end. “I don’t know how I feel about the end. The journey was wonderful. I wish my show had run for 10 years because it made history with its consistent good ratings over the years. The ratings of the show never dipped,” says the actor who has been part of the show since the show started in 2010. His former co-star Giaa Manek had quit the show after a few years but Nazim is proud to have stayed on from start to finish. “I have seen many actors entering and exiting the show, ups and downs, and fights and reconciliations on the show. Now I feel like the whole unit is my family. I didn’t think the show would end now. I felt it would go on. But it’s a part of life and we have to accept it. I felt like a star on this family drama.”

Nazim started his career with a role in Prithviraj Chauhan in 2009 before taking on the family drama where he played the role of Aham Modi, and later Jaggi. He also did a Punjabi film recently. Nazim felt shooting every day for the TV show was like “being in school”. “Doing a daily soap has helped me improve my acting every day. I got awards in the last two years which I felt I deserved.”

Ask him what is looking forward to next and he says, “I would like to do an action show be it on a mythological or a historical subject. I would like to something different than family drama I am a part of. I have a good body and personality, so I would like people to see that side of me too. I would like to do reality shows as well.”

I wish my show had run for 10 years because it made history with its consistent good ratings over the years. MOHAMMAD NAZIM, ACTOR
