‘Star kids don’t have it easy either’

- Pooja Sharma

It’s not common knowledge that actor Nidhhi Agerwal, who will soon make her Bollywood debut in Munna Michael, opposite Tiger Shroff, is a trained ballet dancer. In fact, she says she would be game to play a ballet dancer on the screen. Nidhhi says, “I will take maybe a month to get back to ballet. But if I am offered [a film], I would love to [do it]. I’ve learnt ballet for about seven years; it became a lifestyle for me. If you train in a dance form, it becomes easier to do steps and get that grace.”

The actor, who hails from Bangalore, says it wasn’t easy for her to move to Mumbai and start a new life. “It’s not easy to move from one city to another. I had a pretty comfortable life in Bangalore. But to leave everything and start from scratch is not easy. However, I always focus on the positives. At the end of the day, it is important to know that this is not the end of your life. It doesn’t mean that your life is over if you don’t become an actor. You can pursue other things and still opt for auditions,” she says.

Speaking about nepotism in the industry, Nidhhi says, “It is harder for an outsider to make an entry in the industry, but that does not mean star kids have it easy. Star kid or not, every actor has to stand the test of time. It would be interesting to see who’s talked about five years from now. Actors like Tiger, Alia (Bhatt) and Ranbir (Kapoor) are supremely talented and would be here regardless. As for me, I don’t know what I’m going to do next. All I know is that I’ve worked hard, but I also know that I need to work harder than I have to get to where I want to be.”
