Dr JS Randhawa, a renowned radiologist makes his directorial debut with Muskurahatein that releases today. The film is set in a medical college. The story revolves around an extra marital affair between a teacher and student. While a lot of films touch upon extra marital issues as a subject, this film sheds light on how best to deal with this critical situation.

Starring Dr JS Randhawa, the film also has Sanjay Mishra playing an important role, and marks the debut of newcomer Sonal Mudgal, who plays a college student. Sonal, a student of Gargi College in Delhi, says she is more than happy to make her Bollywood debut with this film. “I’m glad I got this movie as I wanted a role that would let me portray my age. The movie is set in a medical college and hence, was perfect as I have just finished my graduation too”, she says. She says her modelling experience helped her with stage fright. “I was nervous on my first day but I am used to facing the camera so it wasn’t awkward at all. I’m looking forward to a long journey in Bollywood,” she says.

Talking about his film and how he decided to direct, Dr Randhawa says, “It’s funny how someone who isn’t a film buff like me has directed a film. I haven’t had a television set at home since the past 18 years. Just two months back, I got a TV set home. I hardly watch movies, but I somehow wanted to make a movie that talks about issues in the society in a realistic manner. I am a radiologist and have trained more than 10,000 students in my career. I’ve witnessed the issues that students go through. Also, with a medical college, the benefit is that you can show students from different age groups.”

Randhawa adds that he doesn’t have too many expectations because his film is clashing with other big ticket movies. “I only have one daughter and I have saved enough money for her. I wanted to make a film that will benefit the people by showing the real side of the society. So, even if this film doesn’t work, it’s not a waste of money. I’m glad I was able to make this film, and I hope that people appreciate the intent behind doing this,” he says.

Sanjay Mishra, who is known for his solid performance says that he was hooked to the story as the script was interesting. “Everyone is new on this film. I had liked the script because it was set in a medical institute. I was very interested after I heard the script because it was about a few doctors who were completing their ultrasound training,” he says.

Produced under the banner of Reverberation films, it releases today all over.
