Bharti’s on a threemonth break
Bharti Singh’s had a busy year with backto-back shows, including The Kapil Sharma Show and Nach Baliye. “So, I have taken a break now,” she reasons. “With my wedding scheduled for December, I will be on a break till then. Everyone in my family keeps asking me what to wear for the wedding and I am going mad. I want to enjoy the festivities, the preparation and soak in the feeling. I have worked for nine years non-stop and now is the time to savour it. I am going to let go and enjoy myself. I am going to let myself be pampered, dress in finery and look like a dulhan (bride).” Bharti and Harsh have three dates to choose from and post Diwali, her extended family will be in Mumbai to finalise the wedding date.
Bharti plans to invite many of her colleagues including Kapil Sharma, Krushna Abhishek and Sunil Grover to her destination wedding in Goa. “I will invite a few close people from the industry but many of them are busy with their shows. Whoever loves me will attend my wedding,” she says.
The comedienne admits she always wanted a wedding with “great pomp and show”. “But Harsh is a simple person and is against spending too much at weddings. But when I didn’t relent, he now wants to bear half the expense [of the wedding]. It was such a pleasant surprise. These days, guys don’t offer to pay any share in weddings and the girl’s side have to bear the entire cost. I earn well and could have borne the entire cost but this is such a sweet gesture and tells a lot about his character. I have started respecting him more now,” she says.
Though Bharti and Harsh have known each other for eight years now, she didn’t want to be talked about for her relationship. She says they were committed to each other and decided that they would eventually get married. “We weren’t together just to see if our relationship works out or not. When we had met, I was fatter than I am today but he never wondered if we complement each other in looks. He saw my inner beauty and encouraged me to realise my potential. Today, people compliment me on my clothes, style and how I carry myself and I give Harsh credit for that. We had decided we would get married only once we are set in our careers.”
