It’s a prerequisite to have a birthday bash,” says Ravi Dubey, who plans to celebrate his birthday today with a huge party. The Jamai Raja actor adds that his wife, actor Sargun Mehta always throws a party for him and vice versa. “Our birthdays are like annual days for both of us. We go all out on each other’s birthdays and plan a party in advance. We love to make it a grand celebration. It’s been the case since we met, that is seven years ago. Even if I refuse to have a party, it’s a given that the party will be organised. Sargun makes it special every time. She ensures that everybody I love attends the birthday party and it’s a powerful gift to give.”

Last year, they had over 150 guests at his birthday party and Ravi admits that they love having people around . “We are very people-oriented, and being Punjabis, we love to have a happy, fun atmosphere on our special days. We look for reasons to get together with our friends and family. Our mantra is ‘the more the merrier’. Of course, there are moments that Sargun and I spend together just the two of us, like our anniversaries. We also take a trip together every few months,” he says. But even when they are on vacations, the couple doesn’t prefer quiet places as they like the hustle-bustle of a city. “I would rather go to New York, USA, than going to a quiet town,” he adds.

Talking about the year gone by, Ravi says, “2017 has been a great year and I don’t have any complaints from my life or career. I believe in offering

pre-gratitude to the absolutely amazing 2018. This year, Khatron Ke Khiladi and the on-going comedy show that I am part of, have been very different projects. I was apprehensive about doing both but I am glad I did. As Late Dr Harivansh Rai Bachchan had said in his poem — mann ka ho to achcha, na ho toh zyada achcha. I believe in that thought that no matter how consciously you decide your next step in life, there is always a bigger plan in place.”
