Saif Ali Khan-starrer Kaalakaandi, which is all set to release this Friday is a dark comedy based on the lives of three different people in Mumbai brings together stories about life, death and karma. While the makers promise that the film will be a fun watch, here are some more reasons you should watch Kaalakaandi.

DARK COMEDY

After quite a long gap, a film in the dark comedy genre is releasing in Bollywood and that has got people excited, say makers.

ECLECTIC ENSEMBLE

To adapt the narrative, the film needed a star cast to suit each character perfectly, keeping it real, yet enticing. Director Akshat Verma put together a cast which includes actors such as Saif Ali Khan, Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raaz, Sobhita Dhulipala, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Akshay Oberoi, Shehnaz Treasury, Shivam Patil, Amyra Dastur, and Neil Bhoopalam. Akshat says, “The challenge with an ensemble cast starts with the writing, where you’re juggling many more characters and trying to make them distinct and three dimensional.”

MUMBAI AS ITS BACKDROP

The film has been shot in real locations showcasing Mumbai and all its varied colours. Mumbai at night has been captured very realistically. Akshat says, “It was very interesting to shoot Mumbai at night, in the rains. It feels like a completely different city.”

SAIF ALI KHAN 2.0

While we have seen a lot of different shades and sides of Saif Ali Khan in all his previous films, after a long time, Saif will be seen in a quirky role like this one. The actor has rated Kaalakaandi as one his best films.

NEW AGE MUSIC

The music of the film is as different as the film. The makers also feel that the music complements the theme of the film perfectly. Produced by Cinestaan Film Company and Ashi Dua Sara of Flying Unicorn, Kaalakaandi will release on January 12, 2018.
