‘I never talk about Salman because it’s my personal life’
She is often referred to as actor Salman Khan’s rumoured girlfriend. She gets clicked with the superstar on various occasions. She is close to his family, too, so much so that she attends their close gatherings and accompanies them on family holidays. Yet, Romanian actor, model and TV host Iulia Vantur prefers to not talk about it. “I never talk about [Salman Khan] because I usually keep my personal life for myself,” she says.
“I feel this is the only area one should keep sacred. Our work anyway gives us all the exposure, but what’s so intimate and private in your life, should be there only for you and your loved ones. There are things that are so precious that you want to protect them,” she adds.
Her closeness to Salman has always kept Iulia in the limelight, but it can sometimes get too much to handle. “Some rumours are, like, out of this world. Sometimes, they’re just unbelievable. But what can you do? You can’t stop them. So, you learn to live with them and you start ignoring them,” says Iulia, who has recently recorded a single, titled Harjai, with Maniesh Paul, actor and TV host. It has been rumoured, among other things, that Iulia will marry Salman at some point.
Knowing how protective Salman gets about his close friends, has he ever advised Iulia on how to deal with these rumours? “Well,” she replies, “considering that I have a career in Romania and I’m exposed to the press and public there, I’m quite used to it [already]. But, yeah, every country has its own system, so there have been all sorts of advice pouring in from everyone, including Salman.”
It’s her parents Iulia thinks about when the rumours start flying. “It’s very upsetting for my family,” she says, adding that she does her best to keep them informed of what’s really happening in her life.
