My career is on the right path: Shivani Tomar

In the TV industry, one can never predict which show will work and which won’t. I’ve seen actors sit at home without work even after being part of a superhit show. SHIVANI TOMAR, ACTOR

- Kavita Awaasthi

Actor Shivani Tomar isn’t disheartened that her last TV show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon 3 (IPKKND) ended after just three months of being on air. She is currently shooting for a new TV show, which is a “love story”. She says, “I play a strong character that drives the narrative which is really appealing to me.”

Ask her about what went wrong with IPKKND, and she says, “There were many issues. It was Barun Sobti’s comeback on TV, and as Barun and Sanaya (Irani) were part of the original IPKKND, their fans wanted them back again. The story changed a lot after a few weeks of the first episode, and there were many haters, which affected the show’s ratings. I won’t say it was difficult for me, as I was doing my job, but it affected the show, and eventually, it didn’t work.”

Now that she has a good show in hand, Shivani admits that she wasn’t adversely affected when IPKKND ended. The Friends: Conditions Apply actor says, “In the television industry, one can never predict which show will work and which won’t. I’ve seen many actors sit at home without work even after being part of a super hit show. I’ve seen actors at the peak of their careers not being able to get their next big show. And that really affected them. My career is on the right path. I’ve been working for seven years and I have struggled a lot in this profession. I am strong as a person. I’ve been selected for shows and then replaced overnight, but I’ve never given up. I feel that if you get something very easily then you don’t value it much.”
