A GIRL CAN NEVER BE OVERDRESSED:OVEDRES NIA
Nia Sharma talks about her sartorial choices and why she doesn’t shy away from experimenting
Ican’t go for the usual run-ofthe-mill outfits,” says Nia Sharma, who wore a white leotard with a white taffeta silk doll skirt at a recent award function. She adds, “If I wear a regular-looking ensemble and look pretty, I feel it isn’t enough. When you walk the red-carpet, you need to step it up. I believe a girl is never overdressed.”
The Twisted actor has time and again showed off her impeccable fashion sense be it in a casual outfit, sexy dress or funky attires. Her fans, too, love her stylish avatars and appreciate her. While her outfits usually turn heads, Nia says her “intention wasn’t to get eyeballs” with the leotard gown but that she felt “the outfit was elegant” and “the style has been in for quite some time”. In fact, Deepika Padukone wore a sheer purple Marchesa ensemble at the opening gala of the Cannes Film Festival last year. “I loved wearing the outfit. Many actresses have already worn such an outfit in the past in different styles and colours. I work on all my outfits with designer Shahid Amir. It felt great that so many of my contemporaries complimented me on ensemble and said ‘it looked like someone had arrived at the red carpet’.”
Nia loves white and has posted many photos in white ensembles on her Instagram account. She says, “My designer wants me to be the lady in white on a red carpet. I go with this idea and white works for me. It makes everything bright, vibrant and lit up. Shahid has detailed the outfit with pearls and chains, which upped the outfit’s glamour. I even wore white eyeliner, which was a bit unusual according to me but it worked. There was a lot of theatre and drama to the outfit. Red carpets call for some drama and when you get the chance, seize the day.”
