Kapil and Ginni kick off wedding rituals
If you thought wedding season is over with the Deepika Ranveer and Priyanka-Nick marriages, hold on! There’s more coming. Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma is all set to tie the knot with his long-time girlfriend Ginni Chatrath a week from today. Their prewedding rituals have already begun in Jalandhar, Ginni’s home-town. The akhand paath (a Sikh ritual) took place on Sunday at the bride-to-be’s residence, which was followed by the bangle ceremony on Monday evening, which was attended by Kapil’s mom, sister and brother.
In the run-up to the D-day on December 12 in Jalandhar, there will be a jagran on December 10 in Amritsar where Bollywood playback singer Richa Sharma will perform, along with Punjabi devotional singer Master Saleem.
Singer Gurdas Maan is going to be a star performer at the wedding, which will be a close-knit affair with only family members and friends in attendance.
“No one from the film industry has been invited for the functions in Punjab. Celebrities who are performing are doing so just because of their friendship,” a source says, adding that Daler Mehndi will perform at the reception on December 14 in Amritsar.
The Mumbai reception, on December 24, is expected to be a starry affair attended by Bollywood celebrities. “Invites will be sent to actors Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan,” adds the source.
Kapil had earlier taken to social media to announce his wedding date along with a picture of his wedding card.
