‘Masala King’ makes it big in UAE

Chair­man and man­ag­ing di­rec­tor, Al Adil Trad­ing, Dhanan­jay (Jay) Datar was re­cently ranked 18 on the list of the rich­est In­di­ans in the UAE in 2018, by Ara­bian Busi­ness. In two years his po­si­tion has seen a me­te­oric rise as in 2017, he was on the 19th po­si­tion and in 2016, he ranked 39th. Speak­ing on the oc­ca­sion, Datar, pop­u­larly known as the ‘Masala King’ says, “It is a great hon­our to be recognised by Ara­bian Busi­ness, which is one of the most cred­i­ble me­dia houses in the world, that recog­nises our pas­sion and con­tri­bu­tion to the ad­vance­ment of the Arab re­gion.” Dhanan­jay ex­plains, “Hon­our and recog­ni­tion add more re­spon­si­bil­ity to what we do. I be­lieve that we will strive to pro­vide en­hanced value to our cus­tomers in a so­cially re­spon­si­ble man­ner. It is also a re­flec­tion of the ded­i­cated team ef­fort of our en­tire or­gan­i­sa­tion. I wish to thank the rulers of this coun­try who sup­port and en­cour­age us in our en­deav­ours. It is ev­i­dent from the fact that a ma­jor­ity of the top lead­ers and busi­ness own­ers are based in UAE, which is a re­flec­tion of the sup­port that we get from the coun­try.” To­day his group en­com­pass a chain of 40 su­per mar­kets spread across Gulf coun­tries, two spice fac­to­ries, two flour mills and an im­port-ex­port com­pany. The rulers of UAE fe­lic­i­tated Dhanan­jay with a pres­ti­gious award and the ti­tle Masala King, for his con­tri­bu­tion to the busi­ness sec­tor. His name was in­cluded in Forbes Mid­dle East magazine’s list of Top 100 In­dian Busi­ness­men in Arab World. Al Adil Trad­ing group un­der the lead­er­ship of Dhanan­jay claims to have brought in more than 9000 In­dian prod­ucts to UAE. The group also claims to pro­duces more than 700 prod­ucts within cat­e­gories like ready­made flours, spices, pickles and jams, un­der its own brand, Pea­cock. His group’s In­dian arm, Masala King Ex­ports (In­dia) Pvt Ltd op­er­ates from Mum­bai. Al Adil Groupisal­soin­ac­tive ex­pan­sion mode. It has es­tab­lished spe­cial trade routes in USA, Canada, Kenya, Switzer­land and other coun­tries.
