Honour for Raveena for contribution to women empowerment
Actor Raveena Tandon has been at the forefront of various causes related to women welfare and empowerment. Considering her contribution, the International Women Empowerment Summit & Awards 2019 (IWES) has decided to honour her. In continuation of organising successful IWES-2018 in DubaiUAE, the organisers will host the second edition of IWES-2019 today in Delhi.
The event is being organised with the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign, a flagship programme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Raveena says, “It’s a great honour and I accept it with all humility. To be a woman in the 21st century is an exhilarating time as women have achieved many things over the past century. However, there is always room to grow and progress, and I, along with many other young women, hope to continue the true essence of feminism — achieving gender equality.”
The event would bring women leaders from various fields on one platform to share their experiences. It will see participation from top Indian politicians and ministers, along with the leading women in the fields of cinema, literature, health, entrepreneur, philanthropists and homemakers in India. It would be a specially curated program where the participants would act as leaders, and will discuss issues pertaining to women empowerment.
The speakers at the event include politicians Sushma Swaraj, Uma Bharti, Maneka Gandhi, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Smriti Irani, former track athlete PT Usha, boxer Mary Kom, former Bachendri Pal, and actor
Sushma Seth. HTC
