Notebook is the season’s coolest love story
Nitin Kakkar’s latest film Notebook is the love story of Kabir and Firdaus, essayed by debutants Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan Bahl. The film, which is a Salman Khan Films presentation and a Cine1 Studios production, promises to break through the conventional norms to present an unusually intriguing and unrequited romance of two individuals who fall in love without ever meeting or knowing each other. The makers also promise that it will be the coolest romantic story this summer.
Shot in the exquisite locations of Kashmir, the love story is backed by soulstirring music that’s been striking a chord with audiences. With its romantic ballad Nai Lagda, Vishal Mishra set the ball rolling for a romantic journey. “I am humbled by the reactions,” says Mishra. “It was always a challenge to create an original score. And now, it’s such a great feeling to see all the songs getting so much of love,” he adds.
One of the film’s highlights is Main Taare, sung by
Salman. When asked if it was difficult crooning the song, he laughs and says, “It was not difficult to sing but I guess the technicians took a lot of time to set it right.”
Set in 2007-08, Notebook brings to screen the age of romance when social media was not dominant (especially in the Valley). “There is complete purity in the love,” says Nitin. “And it’s with the same honesty that we’ve made the film,” he adds.
Produced by Salma Khan, Murad Khetani and Ashwin Varde, Notebook releases today.
